Walk through the doors of Real Baby, and your cute meter will instantly intensify.

Whether you’re shopping for your own wee ones or looking for a special gift, the Highland neighborhood baby store has something for everyone. Cribs and bedding meet maternity clothes and Ugly dolls. Designer diaper bags, Radio Flyer walker wagons and Paul Frank tiny T-shirts are an arm’s length away from petite Pumas, a sock monkey Jack-in-the-Box and princess-worthy tutus.

Find soft, plush stuffed animals, art supplies, tea sets, books, games, bath and body products, strollers, car seats, bibs, parasols, Baby Legs and Trumpette socks. Don’t miss the baby books, picture frames, car accessories and cool kid clothing lines.

Founded in 2003, owners Hilary and John Horan have stocked the store (there’s one in Boulder, too) with a well-edited selection of fun, educational and practical products. We took a recent tour with employee Sarah Bridger to get the low-down on five of the store’s most popular items.

Melissa & Doug wooden toy sets:The fruit, sushi, birthday party and stir fry “cooking” sets ($22-$30) are  ”really popular and really good gifts. Great for two- to three-year-olds.” See also: Automoblox wood cars ($38), Sprig recycled plastic toys ($28).

Ergo Baby Carrier: Parents like the organic version ($94-$135), Bridger says. “We sell way more of this than the Baby Bjorn.”

Bugaboo strollers:“We have all three of their strollers — the Cameleon ($899), the Frog ($629) and the Bee ($529).”

Rock-A-Bye T-shirts:Employees got to select some of the featured musicians on these hipster styles. Bands include Radiohead, Green Day, Aerosmith, the Beastie Boys, the Beatles, Sex Pistols, Run-DMC, the Clash, the Ramones,  The Doors, Grateful Dead and the Rolling Stones ($30). Fit sizes 3-6 months to 4 years.

Wee Go bottles: Made of glass, these BPA-free bottles come with a silicone sleeve to make them easier to grip and soften falls ($12.50/4 oz., $18/9 oz.)

I love the Melissa & Doug sushi set. My daughter is a sushi fanatic, and she loves making her own rolls with this awesome gift set.
