Prints charming: Say yes to a colorful dress
By Lesley Kennedy
Store the separates this summer, and, instead, reach for an easy-to-wear dress.
“The dress trend started last year, and it hasn’t left,” says Denise Snyder, owner of Mariel, a Larimer Square boutique. “Women just love them. A dress is easy to throw on and it makes you feel feminine and girlie.”
The dress is also appealing because of its versatility.
“You feel like you can go anywhere when you wear one — to work, to lunch, for cocktails, to a party,” Snyder says. “It fits a lot of different moods and gives a little different attitude.”
To really make your dress a standout, make sure it comes in a bold print.
“We’re seeing all the florals, mixed bold colors,” Snyder says. “We’re finally getting out of the Little Black Dress mode and looking for color.”
So, how to accessorize these bright styles?
“I think statement shoes ares still in, even with wild dresses,” Snyder says. “You can do less with necklaces, but earrings and a bangle or cuff look great.”
