Summer in Colorado is all about playing outside, whether you’re a grown-up or a kid.

And while cut-off shorts and a T-shirt are often fine for a wander through the woods or a bike ride down the street, sometimes a little extra protection (and style) are in order. Look for kids’ clothes with a UPF rating. From 15 to 50, UPF fabrics can help prevent sunburn, and are especially recommended for children and people living at high elevations.

We headed out for a day at the lake to show clothes your kids can wear now, but that will transition perfectly into back-to-school season (no, we can’t believe it’s almost here, either!). Mix basics like khakis with colors and prints for tons of versatility.

Now, get outside and have fun!
