Next month marks the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, and to look in stores today, it’s clear the legendary music festival has left a lasting impression in fashion as well as song.
Peace symbols, tie dye, batik prints and peasant blouses are all over Denver boutiques. Add a flowy summer scarf, piles of long beaded necklaces (the new take on love beads) and a flower power ring or two and imagine yourself dancing to Jimi Hendrix, Santana and Janis Joplin.
And if a peace sign makes you wish you could have been at Max Yasgur’s farm, you’re in luck. On T-shirts, shoes, bags, necklaces, bracelets and more, it’s the icon of summer ’09. Because even 40 years later, peace never goes out of style.
