Project Runway – did they make it work?

August 21, 2009

project-runway-season-sixWho watched the Project Runway extravaganza last night?

SPOILER ALERT!

Thank goodness for the DVR — saved me lots of time skipping all the commercials. I thought the All Star Challenge was entertaining, although I was baffled by Sweet P making it to the final four. I agreed with Santino — I thought her collection looked a bit homemade and lacked polished. Guest judge Diane von Furstenberg thought her restaurant challenge look (the designers had to use “unconventional” materials from a restaurant for one piece) was great. I thought it was hideous. And her red carpet look was a nightgown.

I loved Chris March’ s wool, plaid collection. He should have come in second. Korto’s was really pretty, too, tho. I had a feeling Daniel Vosovich would win as his models strode the runway. The sporty/dressy looks just seemed fresh and professional.

And isn’t it nice to know that Santino hasn’t developed an ego over the past few years? Kinda sweet how humble he was.

On to the Project Runway premiere. The only thing different on the Lifetime channel is that they moved everything to Los Angeles. The set was the same, the work space looked the same. They even set up a Mood fabric shop. It looks like there’s some great talent there, as usual. But with so many contestants in the beginning, it’s hard to get to know everyone.

I did like the winning design from the guy from Minnesota. Everything on the runway felt pretty safe, though. Maybe it was just the first challenge jitters. I was bummed they got rid of the space case girl. Her personal style alone should have kept her on the show for at least a few weeks.

Oh, and Lindsay Lohan as guest judge? Wow.
