For five years, Kim Nolan mixed lotions and potions at home for her family and friends.

A lawyer in Denver, Nolan thought making body and bath products and massage oils was a fun hobby, and she sold her products to friends, but after all those years of research, she was ready to take it to the next level.

“I decided it was time to do something I’m really passionate about,” she says.

Enter Belletaré, her new natural and organic line of luxurious skincare products. Small and focused for now, products include Crescendo Bath and Shower Gel ($18), Intermezzo Body Polish ($45) and Brava Body Lotion ($35). They all come in two essential oil blends, Vivace (a citrus floral) and Adagio (an exotic spice). The body lotion also comes in A Capella, which is fragrance-free.

What you’ll find in these products: antioxidants, botanical extracts and vitamins. What you won’t find: fillers, synthetic fragrances, petro-chemicals or parabens. Eco-friendly, as well, jars and bottles are recyclable, retail boxes are made with 100 percent recycled material and packaging is biodegradable.

“It’s really my deal to make or break, and I have really strict standards when it comes to how I go about manufacturing and formulating the products,” Nolan says. “I also wanted to keep it stylish. If you’re going organic, it doesn’t have to be blah and come in a brown wrapper. I would walk into Neiman’s, and think, ’Why can’t I have the same products, but have them be a little more natural, a little more organic?’ ”

Pronounced bay-lay-TAR-ay, the name means “to beautify” in 16th century Italian.

“I started researching words in fashion,” Nolan says. ”I found a 16th century dictionary of Italian fashion words, and just loved it.”

The operatic and musical terms used in the product names adds a harmonic feel, Nolan says.

“There’s a duel meaning with mind, body and spirit, with good scents and then just doing something good for yourself,” she says.

Starting the company was fueling a passion, Nolan says.

“I think it’s because I started creating it for my friends and family and my nephews who had excema and dermatitis,” she says. “I wanted to make sure every little thing in my products met my standards so people could look at me and say, ‘yes, she’s small, but she means business and quality.’

“I wanted to combine the most potent ingredients I could find, but they also had to have the purity aspect,” she says. “And what I came up with is a product that’s the best of both worlds. You can have it all.”

Belletaré products are also available in travel sizes ($2.50 – $5.50). Look for frequent deals — through August get 30 percent off orders $25 or more. Find them online and soon at Grand Salon. Nolan is also hoping to get the products into boutiques, spas and hotels.

Lesley, Thank you for taking the time to inquire about our company! It was great talking with you. We really enjoyed the article! Loved the Mad Men shoot too. Super cool. Wondering if I could pull off that pink dress this fall. Where’s my cocktail.

I must say that I am DEFINITELY sweet on Belletare too!! I have used each and every one of their products and can honestly say…they are MIRACLE WORKERS! Talk about BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! The Brava Body Lotion is so hydrating and leaves my skin feelin’ so soft. It not only relieves dry skin, but I use it to remove my eye make up, soften my cuticles, and it lengthens my nails too! The body polish is a perfect exfolliator and is GREAT for your feet as well as your entire body!! It leaves my skin smoothe, soft and glowing. The Crescendo gel is a perfect body wash, bubble bath AND I use it as a shaving cream too. My skin has never felt so good!! THANK YOU BELLTARE!! And thank you DENVERALAMODE for featuring Kim Nolan’s fabulous products!! LOVE THEM!!
