So, the Labor Day three-day weekend? Not so great when it comes to eating right.

boot camp iconI knew I’d be over-indulging (and, oh, yes, did I ever) Saturday night, so I was sure to make it to Anne Parker’s TRX Boot Camp Saturday morning. I don’t know if it was because we were a small group, or what, but I swear my arms and shoulders were sore for three days!

Later that day, my husband and I hiked at Chautauqua in Boulder — that kicked our butts. We just laughed as the very, very physically fit jogged right past us. Maybe those two workouts helped cancel out at least one course of the four course meal I ate that night at Frasca!

Sunday, I tried to be good, but didn’t get a chance to work out. Monday (Labor Day), I went for a hike in Evergreen and was pretty good. I did my off-day workout, as prescribed by Parker, on Tuesday, and ate nice and healthy. Wednesday, I wasn’t feeling great, but I went to boot camp, anyway, and felt much better after it was over – even though it was nasty at Wash Park after a thunderstorm — which forced us to move from our normal location to a spot where the ground was covered in dog and goose crap.

Thursday and Friday were really busy — with meetings and events and interviews. Sad to say, no time to work out either day. But the scale says I’m down a few pounds, so I’ll try to make up for it (and indulging in a Fluffer Nutter ice cream cone at Little Man Ice Cream — yikes!) on Saturday.

Sunday, I head to New York for Fashion Week — I won’t have time to hit the gym, but I will do a lot of walking. And I’ll try to keep the champagne to a minimum!

My biggest lesson this week? Even if there’s a holiday or you get busy or stressed, you have to stay focused and prepared. I feel like I slipped a bit this week – and next week is sort of a wash — but I know I’ll get back on track. Even if I have to do the plank near goose crap to get there!
