GALLERY: NY Fashion Week – Michael Kors

NEW YORK — I just love it when, at the end of his must-see Fashion Week show, Michael Kors jauntily struts all the way around his two-catwalk runway.
You see, most designers barely peek out from behind the Oz-like “curtain” to offer a feeble little wave once the last models exits. Some venture out a few feet, blow a kiss, do a little bow. But not Kors. No, he hustles out there, huge smile plastered on his face, practically race walking, swinging his arms, waving and saying “thank you” over and over again.

And, he should take in the applause. Season in and season out, the Project Runway judge deserves to bask in the spotlight, because he has mastered American sportswear in a way that draws both celebrity fans (Michael Douglas, Melania Knauss Trump and Rachel Zoe were all there) and admiration from regular folks who shop at the mall.
For spring, Kors took inspiration from architectural shapes and mixing crisp with soft.
Slashed openings and translucent panels appeared on dresses. Ink blots and watercolor prints added graphic elements. And pale colors like mint, sky blue and lavender met black and white. And while the styles with see-through plastic strips running through them (watch out! Wardrobe malfunction looming!) aren’t likely to appeal to most women (tho Rihanna would look fab in them), they did look sleek on the catwalk.
Here’s a look.
