mikael padilla adWelcome our newest sponsor, celebrity hairstylist/colorist Mikael Padilla.

From actresses like Sandra Bullock, Amanda Peet and Rachel McAdams to models Karolina Kurkova and Kate Moss to musicians including Fergie and The Misshapes, Padilla has been cutting, coloring and styling celebrity hair on both coasts, but is bringing his skills back to his hometown of Denver this December 2009.

Padilla and his wife, personal trainer Karita Padilla, along with their Weimaraner, Shia, are making the move home, where Padilla has joined the team at the Matthew Morris Salon. Be sure to book now for the holidays and receive 20 percent off all services for new clients only. Call 303-715-4673 to book an appointment starting Dec. 2, 2009, Wednesday through Saturday.

Here’s his impressive bio:

After finishing beauty school and a one year apprenticeship at Denver’s El Salon in 1999, Mikael moved to New York City and started working alongside Garren at the prestigious Garren New York Salon at Henri Bendel. After a 2 ½-year apprenticeship program, Mikael quickly established himself with clients including Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Coolidge, Karolina Kurkova and Amanda Peet, to name a few. He also worked on New York Fashion Week  shows such as Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, Heatherette and Victoria’s Secret.

In 2003, Mikael moved to the newly-opened Sally Hershberger Downtown Salon in New York’s trendy Meatpacking District, where he worked alongside Hershberger. While there, he perfected a fashion and beauty insider highlighting technique called Baliage, which creates a more natural, “beachy” effect than you can achieve with traditional foils.

During his time at Herberger’s salon, his clientele expanded to include Naomi Watts, Gina Gershon, Kate Moss and Trish Goff, among others. In the early part of 2005, Mikael headed to Los Angeles to work at Prive Salon alongside celebrity stylist Laurant D. Later that year, he returned to his hometown of Denver to open a salon in Riverfront Park, partnering with Rita B of the Rita B Downtown Salon. Mikael was quickly named one of Denver’s top colorists by 303 magazine and The Denver Post.

After three months in Denver, Mikael returned to Los Angeles and joined Sally Hershberger @ John Frieda. His clientele continued to grow: Rachael McAdams, Paris Hilton, Morgan Spurlock, Taryn Rose.

Beginning in June 2006, Mikael began working with the Cloutier Agency in Santa Monica doing editorial work with such talent as Fergie, The Misshapes and Lisa Marie Presley. He worked with photographers like Kenneth Capello, Bruce Webber and Steven Miesel on editorial shoots for Valentino, Gap, Banana Republic, Express, Escada, Dior and Helmut Lang.

In 2007, Mikael became the celebrity colorist spokesperson for Wella Professionals, and has been  featured in Allure, Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal, O, the Oprah Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Redbook, Woman’s Day, Elle, La Confidential and more.
