Red carpet report – American Music Awards – Rihanna vs. Lady Gaga!
By Lesley Kennedy
The music world (along with those A-list actor/actress groupies) rocked out last night at the annual American Music Awards and there was a whole lot of sizzle (holy Adam Lambert performance!) and also some fizzle (Rihanna, you’re not Lady Gaga, quit dressing like her).
Here’s a look at the high and low notes from the red carpet.
Shakira was close in this sunny yellow Versace minidress. I just wish those cutouts weren’t there at the bottom. They look awkward.
Normally, I adore Rihanna, but this Marchesa gown did not work for me. Weird on top, laser rose cutouts, the white shoes. Disappointed.
But at least the red carpet dress was better than Rihanna’s performance outfit. Let Lady Gaga have her bandage body suits — this is not a look for you.
Honestly? I wasn’t too impressed by the dresses worn by Nicole Kidman or Kate Hudson, either. Kidman’s lace Balenciaga gown was more frump than sexy for me, and Hudson’s low-cut silver mini was a nip slip waiting to happen! I was seriously scared for her.
Love me some Adam Lambert in a shiny, spiked suit.
And, finally, I have no idea what Lady Gaga is wearing, but I love it.
What did you think of the AMA fashions? Leave a comment below!

Oooops! Looks like Kate needs some nipple covers…or at least get her some fashion tape! I am surprised her stylist didn’t make her wear Nippies or Stylin’ Tape to this show…maybe this was intentional? Who knows….but I will say I think she looks good! Love her dress (despite the malfunction!), her makeup is pretty, and kudos to Kate for being proud of her body….small chest and all.
