We’re sweet on … Go Go Chapeaux hat boutique

Our hats are off to Erin Saboe. Go Go Chapeaux, the Coloradan’s headwear boutique in Cherry Creek North, is brimming with original, one-of-a-kind styles that add instant chic to any outfit.

Saboe, whose degree is in psychology, says she fell in love with hats while living in Kentucky where her husband attended medical school.

“Actually,” she adds, “I always loved hats. There are ridiculous pictures of me at my homecoming in hats.”

Saboe says she’d drag her husband to hat fashion shows during Kentucky Derby time.

“I decided to try to make them and I studied with a retired milliner,” she says. “Then I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and did the millinery program there.”

Saboe says she has been making hats off and on for about 12 years, taking some breaks because of moves and having kids, but she’s been in her current Denver location for two years.

So, what hat style does she love most?

“I don’t really have a favorite,” Saboe says. “I do like Kentucky Derby hats just because you can do anything. It gives you a lot of freedom and there’s not a lot of constraints, so I like that part of it.”

At Go Go Chapeaux, you’ll find some styles from other designers, along with Saboe’s one-of-a-kind designs. She also does some custom work. Prices for Saboe’s hats, created using wooden forms or shaped by hand, incorporate lots of vintage ribbons, millinery flowers and other irreplaceable fabrics, and range in price from $100-$300.
