Happy New Year! We’re back with links to love
It’s the first Monday back at it after all the holiday festivities … And we’re so excited to see what 2010 brings.
Last year was a butt-kicker, for sure. We lost our newspaper jobs, but embraced the world of online journalism, blogging and freelance work. It took us a while to get used to working from home and juggling multiple projects (well, that was our expertise at the Rocky Mountain News, so it wasn’t that hard), but we’re looking forward to an exciting new year.
What can we do to make Denveralamode even better? Please let us know, either by leaving a comment below, or e-mailing lesley@denveralamode.com.
We may not be 13-year-old blogging geniuses (does anyone really believe she’s writing that stuff all by herself?), but we do care about Denver fashion and beauty.
In the meantime, here are some fab links to get you caught up on what’s been happening while you were busy eating, drinking and making merry. Here’s to ringing in 2010 in style — Cheers!
- We loved, loved, loved this story by an out-of-work journalist trying to reclaim her life. She writes about a 60 day yoga challenge to cleanse her body and outlook on living. Part two runs next month, and we can’t wait to find out the results.
- This was a cute way to round up 2009’s fashion trends by the San Francisco Chronicle — the bad ideas of the year. From hiring Lindsay Lohan as your muse to Winkers. And where, exactly, does Lady Gaga fit in?
- Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times forecasts the top trends for this year: Forever 21, Alice in Wonderland and QVC are all included. Tripping on cheap clothes from the comfort of your couch? Hello, 2010!
- Blair Waldorf sings!
- More men to look like David Beckham? Well, dress like him, anyway? We’ll take it.
- Must-see movie: Tom Ford moves to film with A Single Man
- PETA’s people of the year? Definitely not Anna Wintour. Step right up Ellen Degeneres and Tim Gunn.
- Finally, this was a graduation speech from 1999, but it feels like a New Year’s resolution speech, as well. An oldie, but goodie, watch Baz Luhrmann’s Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen. You’ll smile. We promise.
