Summer dressing can be tricky. Some mornings and evenings are cool, while mid-day can be downright sweltering. Cold air conditioning can royally mess up your clothing plans — you’re dying of heat stroke on your way to and from the office, but shivering while you’re at your desk all day. And looking cute for a night out? You definitely don’t want anyone to see you sweat.

So, what’s a style-loving gal to do? We asked Stacy McElhany, owner of chic boutique Violet in Larimer Square, to put together some summer-appropriate looks for work, play and evenings out. Easy fabrics, bright colors and patterns are cool for free-time, while classic black and white is office-appropriate while not looking stuffy.
