Sorry, Molly Ringwald, but fall 2010 is not the time to be pretty in pink. If you ask Matthew Morris, it’s all about being pretty in punk.

The Denver salon owner, who has made a name for himself styling hair at big time New York fashion shows and as a finalist on Bravo’s “Shear Genius” hair competition, sent models down the moving runway with pretty, wavy hair, jolted with a streak of punk rock pink, orange, green or yellow to toughen things up.
Celebrating the fourth anniversary of the Matthew Morris Salon last week at Cluster Studios, Morris gave clients, friends and fans a peek at his fall trend forecast with a runway show hosted by his long-time pal, New York drag queen Shequida (“Dontcha wish your boyfriend was hung like me?” she sang), and attended by his “Shear Genius” co-stars Janine Jarman and Faatemah Ampey.
“This is super awesome,” Jarman told the crowd. “We were OK with being Matthew’s girlfriends…”
“You guys are all his chicks on the side,” Ampey finished. “We’re here because we love Matthew and we love fashion.”

So, what are those fall trends? Hair was either soft, pretty and natural (save the pop of punk color) or super straight and sleek, often pulled back in a severe ponytail.
Clothes, from Shopgoldyn.com (we’ll take one of each, please) and ELC Men’s, were black, black and more black. With a little gray, metallic and Army green thrown in — just the way we like our fall fashions.
Looks included boyfriend styles (think long, cuffed jean shorts paired with long and relaxed cardigans), military influences (short shearling jackets, olive green shirts covered in sequins), menswear (full slacks, white T-shirt, fedora), little black dresses (classic LBDs plus some hot metallic numbers) and the neon trend (hello, glow in the dark accessories!).
Here’s a look at some of our favorite styles from the show, which was a benefit for the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center Foundation.
Molly Ringwald would certainly approve.
